Only had experience with cheap u-locks on an old bike. Now I have a more expensive (better?) bike that’s needs protection when left unattended while running errands. Haven’t tried any other good quality u-locks but this one feels sturdy and the action of the key is very smooth. Read too many reviews of the Kryptonite locks getting jammed and decided to get something better.This lock is lighter in weight than a comparable high security Kryptonite lock but feels heavy. Weight in specs is one thing and actually carrying is another – this one is heavy. Luckily it comes with a holder that will let you carry your lock almost anywhere on your bike. Wouldn’t recommend carrying it in a holster around your waist. It has to be carried on the bike or inside a bag when commuting.The better the lock the more time the thief will take to bypass it. Invest in a good lock. This one is expensive but that depends how much you have spent in your bycicle or if you just can afford to lose your work tool (bike) – even if it’s a cheap one.
